Rabbi Ira Book

Born in New York City, Ira graduated Columbia University with an undergraduate degres in Political Science. He did graduate work at Columbia Teachers' College, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, the Academy of Jewish Religion, and the University of San Francisco. Ordained in 1970, he earned a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from the University of San Francisco.

Rabbi Book has served as director of pastoral care and chaplaincy at Folsom State Prison, and has received may honors and held various positions in connection with hs work. He is also the author of many scholarly articles.

Currently, Rabbi Book provides Jewish and pastoral care services at Napa State Hospital and Sonoma Developmental Center. He and his wife Sharon have been married over 40 years and are blessed with four children and seven grandchildren.
